Latino Leadership: A Labor Day Reflection
Today is Labor Day in the United States, a day dedicated to honoring the hard work and commitment of millions of workers. While much of the world celebrates it on May 1, here we observe it today.
As I take a moment to reflect on the contributions of workers, I can’t help but think about the Latino community, a community I’m proud to be a part of. Latinos have been the backbone of this country’s economy for generations, contributing not just through hard work but through a unique and powerful style of leadership. In fact, according to a study from UCLA, if Latinos in the US were a country, we would be the fifth-largest economy in the world in terms of GDP.
In this reflection, I explore three distinctive characteristics that define Latino leadership: our communication style, relationship orientation, and perspective on time. By understanding these traits, we can gain deeper insights into how we lead and how we forge meaningful connections with others in the workplace
